Car Parking

Please note that, as from Monday 22 February, St. Andrew's car park will be closed for a number of months while extensive rebuilding work takes place. You will need to park in Rogers Lane or elsewhere.

Pedestrian access from Rogers Lane will be via the footpath to be permanently repositioned at the back of St. Andrew's. However, you won't be able to use the new footpath while it is being constructed.

We will have to see how the situation develops.

Annual Dinner

The entertainers strutting their stuff!

The entertainers get their men

The annual dinner was held at the Burnham Beeches Golf Club on Saturday, November 28. Thanks to former member, Jim Chown, for providing the facilities.

Those who attended enjoyed:

Fresh asparagus with a poached egg, crispy pancetta and a drizzle of balsamic glaze

Grilled fillet of beef on crushed potato with an onion, mustard, caper and port wine reduction

Crème brûlée

Cheese and biscuits

Coffee

Altogether very tasty, especially when helped down with some fine wine.

David Claydon, Club Chairman, gave a short speech after the dinner and pointed out that this year marked the 60th anniversary of the Club.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the entertainment – Finella, Triona, Jean and Peter gave us a rendering of a fun song. Peter played the part of the clown/ugly sister or whatever you wanted to call him!

And thanks also to Peter for organising the event. Looking forward to next year’s dinner (in April?). Pictures provided by Val Taylor.

Skittles Evening

The happy competitors

Amy in action

The annual skittles evening was held on October 9 at Stoke Green Cricket Club.

There were 24 players in total, breaking down neatly into four teams of six for the opening gambit – a standard ‘how many skittles can you knock down with three balls’. Team 3 won this with some masterful bowling – especially by Brian Giles who managed a magnificent 15 on one occasion. Was this luck or skill?!

After a break for fish/chicken and chips, the excitement of the ‘killer’ competition was experienced. You have to knock down at least one skittle at each attempt and, after three failures, you are eliminated. It’s amazing how easy it is to miss a complete set of nine skittles! Roger triumphed in the end.

Finally everyone had a go at bowling with the ‘other’ arm. There were indeed many wayward throws but Bruce Wright came out best by knocking down all the skittles with three balls.

Many thanks to our host, Brian Lill – and to all who took part.
